Lateral Experiences is a group of scholars and specialists who decided to share their knowledge and expertise about Colombia with tourists. We believe that traveling is the best source of education, and Colombia is a gripping country in many fields: history, biology, architecture, art, etc. Our approach is to offer critical thinking of each place tourists visit in Colombia, with the most fundamental goal of travelers: to have fun.

Foundation
Lateral Experiences was founded by Oscar Díaz, an anthropologist, tour guide, and coffee taster.

After working five years in academia as a professor, Oscar decided to follow a passion: to work as a tour guide in Bogotá. Receiving tourists from around the world, he noticed that the interest in topics such as the history of violence in Colombia was entangled with the necessity of taking tourism beyond the prejudices and stereotypes related to the country. That is how to connect scholars to tourists began the most crucial project in Lateral.
